For a Few Challenges

Hello Peoples

This is just a quickie post to enter a few challenges. I'm really sorry about the skew wiff photo - I tried to straighten it and made it worse!!

I'm entering this card for the following challenges:

Friday Sketchers - the sketch I followed
Cute Card Thursday - Dimension - I decoupaged the image which is Jenson Skater, a digi image from Pollycrafts
Creative Card Crew - Going Dotty - the papers I used
Simple Doodles - Add some layers - layers of papers and the decoupaged layers

That's it from me.

See you soon.

Sketch Saturday and Flutter By Wednesday

Hi All - hope you're having a great week and, to everyone lucky enough to be visiting the NEC in the UK this weekend, I hope you have a fabulous time and spend some pennies for me! (lol!)

A friend asked me to make a card for her to give her goddaughter, so I decided to follow the sketch on Sketch Saturday this week. But I just compared my card to the sketch, and it looks like I left a layer out (oops!), but I'm going to get away with it by saying that my DP layer is slightly smaller than the card so that counts as the missing layer (I hope!).

I have used a digi image from Karens Doodles called Fairy Fun - isn't she just adorable? I've coloured her with Promarkers. Because she's a fairy I can also enter this card in this week's Flutter By Wednesday.

I used my new Nellies dyes for the mats for the image but, because I did not yet have a C plate or embossing pad for using in my Cuttlebug, I had to draw around the dyes and cut them out by hand!! You'll be pleased to know that I now own a C plate, but have yet to have a play with these new goodies!

The papers are all Kay and Co, and I punched the flowers out. The gorgeous turquoise pearls are Papermania, and the sentiment was from Lakeland.

That's it from me for now - might just go and have a cuttle!!

Inspirational Card Sketches 58

Hello People - I hope you are having a great weekend!

My son went to a friend's birthday party today, so I made a card using this week's Inspirational Card Sketches challenge. The image I used was a freebie digi from SJs Little Musings. His name is Archie, and I wish now that I hadn't shrunk him quite so much - he might have been better filling the tag a bit more! I love the tag - it's not really got a paper clip thingy (cripes! I can't remember what they're called in stationery - ya know like brads with long legs!!) - it's digi!!

The papers are all a digi download, but I'm not really sure where from - I've filed it under Daisie Company, but my filing on the computer is not brilliant! The sentiment was a download from Pollycrafts. The twine is just everyday garden twine.

As the card was for a 9th birthday, I am also entering it in this week's Charisma Cardz challenge which is Something for the Kids.

I hope you like my card, and that you can pop back again sometime.

See you soon.

Just Chillin'

Hello People - nearly the weekend! Hope you are all having a fantastic week.

It's my day off today and I decided that I'm not going to spend it doing housework, and I'm not going to stress or feel guilty for not doing any!! Having said that though, I have got the second load of washing in the machine, and do need to change the beds before collecting kids from school!

I've been craft shopping this morning, although didn't get much - ds tape, card, a few paper flowers, oval shape cutter and a corner rounder - I also bought a Winter Rose for the garden - it looks gorgeous and I just hope it will stay alive in our garden (that's if I remember to actually plant it lol!)

Gonna do a bit of bloghopping now for few minutes.

See you soon.

Golden Wedding Card

Hello and Happy Weekend everyone!

I have finally finished the Golden Wedding Card I needed to make - we are going to my husband's Uncle and Auntie's party this evening - I hope they like their card. Because this card is for a special celebration I am entering it in this week's Creative Card Crew and Cute Card Thursday Challenges.

I have made a shadow box card - I just think they are so perfect for special occasions like this - I used a decorated vellum paper for the backing behind the numbers - there are some butterflies on the vellum, so I'm going to enter this card in this week's Charisma Cardz Challenge - it is a gorgeous paper IRL but, unfortunately, most of the butterflies got covered with the numbers - hope you can see some in the photos though - probably best to look at the first photo at the top of this post! I used a template for the shoe.

I actually found the paper I used for the numbers and the shoe insole at the bottom of a box of crafty stuff - it was some wrapping paper I'd saved from a present about 3 years ago (does that mean I'm a hoarder or just a savvy crafter?? lol!!). So I can also enter this week's A Spoon Full of Sugar Challenge.

I attempted to make a ribbon flower - I was pleased with it, but thought it needed something added to it, so added a gold rose on top of it. I see lots of crafters using gorgeous decorative pins on their cards - I don't own any of those, so made my own using dressmakers pins and beads - the pins aren't very long but I hope they will stay on the card, think I've used enough glue gel to hold! So because I've added flowers I am entering the Crafty Calendar and Cupcake Craft Challenges.

I'm also showing a second photo of one of the Mother's Day cards I made - I've tweaked it a bit, by adding some pleated ribbon and pearls and gone over the sentiment with a Sakura Clear Stardust pen to make it glittery! I'm so much happier with this card now. But sorry about the blurred photo - can't re-take it as I've sealed the card in its envelope (teach me to check the photo first (lol!)!

That's all from me for now. See you soon. Have a fabulous weekend, and a Happy Mother's Day tomorrow to all you wonderful mothers!

Love, Andrea xx

My Second Mother's Day Card

Hello Everyone - I hope you've had a wonderful weekend! We had such a beautiful day here today, lovely and sunny, but a little chilly! And I had a lovely day yesterday when I discovered that I was lucky enough to be the winner of last week's Sketch Saturday challenge - lucky green for me definitely - see the card in my previous post!

I am happier with this second Mother's Day card. I am entering it in this week's Sugar Bowl Challenge - which is a sketch with the added 'please include' theme of 'Shabby Chic'. I'm not very good at distressing, so I used some Kay and Co papers which looked shabby chic to me. The round mat was sprayed with Memories Mist, then embossed with my new Cuttlebug, and then sanded to show the embossed design. I also made a paper flower - I'm so pleased with it - I followed the tutorial here and I did use tissue paper out of a shoe box! - instead of using an ink pad, I lightly highlighted the creases of the paper with a promarker. The image is Demure from Sugar Nellie, and I coloured her with promarkers.

I hope you like my card - my next project is a card for a Golden Wedding - hope to show that to you soon.

Love, Andrea xx

First Mother's Day Card for this year ...

Well, hello everyone - I hope you have been having a good week, it's the weekend, and I hope you have a great one!

I only realised on Tuesday this week that Mother's Day here in the UK is on the 14th March - aaagghhh, that was my crafting plans up the swanny (lol!), cos I thought I'd better get my Mother's Day cards made pretty quick! (**Whisper** - I actually had to go out and buy a couple of cards to give this week - huh! - how wicked was that, slap my wrists, (lol!))

I'm actually quite disappointed with this first Mother's Day card I've made - isn't it horrible when something doesn't work out the way you had envisaged?? Actually, looking at the card on the mantlepiece at the moment, I think I'll probably tweak it some before I give it to my mother-in-law - maybe add some ribbon and a charm, write over the sentiment with a Sakura Clear Sparkle pen. But I needed to photograph it in the daylight to upload it for the challenges, so have not had time to do the tweaking yet.

It's the first time I'd inked up this gorgeous Demure stamp which I bought in the Funky Kits January sale - she's been coloured with promarkers, and watercolour paints - I'm not happy with her dress, but just didn't know what to do to improve it - also noticed the crease in the image too late (oh poo!).

I sprayed the base card with a spray ink, and distressed around the image with the matching chalk ink (found them in a QVC store). The papers I used were some scraps - Kay and Co I think.

What do you think of my paper roses? - I made them myself - they're a bit fiddly, but really easy to do. I found the tutorial here. I've used a five petal flower punch rather than the six petal one, but I think they've worked quite well. Would have been better if I'd used some double sided paper though.

I'm entering this card into a few challenges:

Sketch Saturday - the sketch I followed
The Pink Elephant - add green
Cute Card Thursday - lucky green
Lexi's Creations - anything goes
Allsorts Challenge - card/gift for mother's day

Whew! Never managed to enter that many challenges in one go before lol!

Thanks for looking, and I'll be back when I've finished my next Mother's Day card!

Love, Andrea xx
